Over the past two months we have been inspired by the resilience and proactive attitude of CEU students and alumni. Thank you to everyone who have engaged with us, one way or another, during this time!
The CEU Career Services Office switched to remote operations in mid-March, like everyone else at CEU. Our priority has been to continue providing students with career information, opportunities, support, and connections regardless of the lockdowns and travel restrictions. It’s been rewarding to innovate and experiment and we have been psyched to see so many of you engage with us during this period.
We kicked off our quarantine events with the Employer Live Chat Series. 76 participants chatted with representatives from three Budapest-based employers. Students received up-to-date information about recruitment processes and the opportunities these employers offer for recent graduates in Budapest.
Our Spring Career Skills Series included online info sessions covering CV/resume writing, cover letters, networking, interview skills, and a session on how to conduct international job searches. During these five sessions, we saw nearly 170 participants. We also hosted an info session about the Internship Support Program (ISP) Remote Fund, during which almost 80 students had the chance to learn about this pilot initiative and to ask questions.
During the Spring ‘Careers in’ Event Series, 120 participants attended online panels where CEU alumni working in the fields of human rights, research and academia and the NGO sector talked about their career paths, and offered advice about how to pursue similar paths. We also offered a special session for students interested in business law, during which Anna Lukacs, an experienced recruiter and longtime friend of CEU shared advice specifically geared towards launching a career in this area.
Feedback on all of these events has been overwhelmingly positive. Thank you all for helping us make these events a success!
We have also continued seeing students and alumni in one-on-one consultations; over the past two months we have conducted almost a hundred online sessions. If you haven’t had the chance to meet with us yet, remember: CEU alumni have lifelong access to career services, so whether it’s before or after graduation, don’t forget that you can call on us!
