Job Title: Event and Audiovisual IT Support Technician

The Information Technology Office at Central European University (CEU) invites applications for a full-time (40 hrs/week) Event and Audiovisual Support position at its Budapest site.
The successful candidate will perform the tasks outlined below.
Duties and responsibilities
IT Support & Service Delivery

Provides technical support to users in person, online, and by phone, resolving IT issues efficiently and professionally.

Acts as a primary point of contact between users and IT support teams for both routine IT and AV-related requests.

Records and manages requests in the Helpdesk ticketing system, ensuring accurate tracking through resolution.

Identifies recurring issues and feeds insights back to IT leadership to inform service improvements.
Event & Audiovisual Support

Installs, configures, calibrates, and maintains AV systems for internal events, including videoconferencing, streaming, recording, and audio systems.

Provides hands-on, on-site technical support during internal and external rental events on campus, troubleshooting AV issues in real time under time-sensitive conditions.

Performs preventive maintenance and pre-event testing of event spaces to ensure systems are fully operational ahead of scheduled use.

Maintains and troubleshoots classroom and event technology (interactive displays, AV systems, conferencing tools, digital signage) and applies firmware and software updates to keep systems current.

Supports the evaluation of new AV equipment to improve event and classroom capabilities.
Systems & Asset Management

Installs, maintains, and administers the lifecycle of IT and AV assets, maintaining accurate inventory records.

Ensures the proper functioning of campus technology systems and equipment, coordinating repairs and vendor support as needed.

Performs network patching and troubleshooting for AV-connected systems and event space network infrastructure

Assists with AV and IT equipment procurement, including gathering requirements and coordinating with vendors.
Documentation, Training & User Enablement

Prepares documentation, tutorials, and how-to materials for IT and AV systems and event technology.

Delivers training and consultancy to users, faculty, and event organizers on IT and AV systems.
Process Improvement & Team Collaboration

Contributes to continuous improvement of IT and AV processes and procedures.

Collaborates with internal teams and engineering to ensure efficient, high-quality service delivery.

Supports IT leadership and engineering teams as needed on cross-functional initiatives.
Qualifications
Education: Secondary school diploma or a BA degree; a degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Audiovisual/Media Technology, or a related field is preferred.
Communication: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills in English, with the ability to act as a liaison between users, event organizers, and IT support teams, and to deliver clear instructions, documentation, and training to non-technical audiences.
Technical skills

Proficient in installing, configuring, and managing IT and AV assets, and maintaining accurate inventory records.

Hands-on experience installing, calibrating, and troubleshooting AV systems (videoconferencing, streaming, recording, and audio) in live, time-sensitive event settings.

Experience with Helpdesk ticketing systems and accurate request/data recording.
-
Familiarity with Windows-based applications.
-
Working knowledge of networking, including patching and troubleshooting for AV-connected systems and event space network infrastructure.

Experience evaluating new equipment and coordinating procurement with vendors.
Other requirements

Ability to adapt to changing technologies and processes, and to contribute to continuous improvement initiatives alongside IT leadership and engineering teams.

Strong organizational skills, able to prioritize effectively, including under the time pressure of live events and shifting demands.

Prior experience in an IT support and/or AV/event technical role; experience in an educational environment is an advantage.
